KAY'S BOOTS ETC.

They are finally done and look nothing like what I had imagined or planned.

They are pretty "loud" and busy.

I told her that they will be not be appropriate for dinner at the White House...but will go over well for Halloween & Mardi Gras.

I found these ceramic peppers at the thrift shop for $4....then painted them and made a pepper garden. That's silly...but it was something to do.

Gene spent hours sorting bottle caps.

HERE'S WHAT I MADE THIS WEEK.

Glass beads on a horse shoe w/ copper wire.

Decoupage snakes on a vintage Japanese wood box w/ pen & ink.

This box is different on each side.

Antique cigar box w/ acrylic paint.

Wood feet added.

Left the original inside label...it's beautiful.

SEMINOLE CANYON. Dec. 28, 2011.

In front of the Visitor's Center. There's a burn ban on...so no bread baking.

Those people look like ants...we arrived late in the day and will return to do this semi-easy hike. The shallow cave in the background is how the "caves" there all look.

George camped out in Seminole for 2 nights with his dog, Comet. It was cold. As you can imagine the summer temps are BRUTAL...stay away. Excellent star gazing and magnificent sunsets.

A railroad gang bake oven from 1881-1883 construction camps...looks like a tomb to me.

George was really hungry after 2 long hikes that day and was thrilled w/ the Rudy's Bar-B-Q that we brought. He didn't know about the burn ban so had been eating cold chili and tamales.

An excellently constructed and rather fuzzy bird nest in an Ocatillo tree.

Visitor's Center w/ Indian Shaman Sculpture. Seminole Canyon State Park is 2,172 acres and was purchased from private owners in 1973-1977. It opened to the public in 1980. The park offers, camping, biking and hiking.
