AFTER CHRISTMAS TRAVELS AKA PART 2.

Janet & I like reserved seating at Sam's Burger Joint. But first.... we drove to San Antonio and saw brother Brook. Hadn't seen him in so long and it was very nice to visit. Took no photos. Went to Josephine St. Cafe for dinner with Bruce (who lives in S.A.), George (who was there from Pecos/Pyote), Jamey, Mike & Janet (who were there from Kyle). Took no photos. Sam's Burger Joint is right next door so we walked over there and met Jamey's ol' friends Tod, Natalie and Mary who came down from San Marcos/Austin. We love that Dirty Ol' One Man Band....Scott H. Biram. A good time was had by all. Took no photos...except this one of me and Janet...duh.
Next day drove to Austin where Jamey got her rent car to use this coming week visiting friends in S.M. and Austin area. Went to hospital to visit old friend Larry who had been in ICU w/ pneumonia. He was glad to see us and we were glad to see him off the ventilator. Took no photos.

Drove to Blanco, TX and met Jamey there. We walked around the square and poked around some antique stores. I like the vines on the side of this building.

This is obviously an old movie theater. The square in Blanco is way cool and has many refurbished shops and cafes.

Mary likes anything old...except her reflection in a mirror.

An old welding/blacksmith waiting for me to move in....

I love it when folks are smart enough to document their buildings.

Moss grows well on limestone.

Jamey in the rose garden gazebo at the extremely nice Best Western Hotel where we stayed in Blanco. This place had hundreds of rose bushes and climbers. It is the only really nice hotel in town and is rather new...they've got the market sewed up.

Gene in the smoking area of the hotel which was also awash with rose plants...even covered the trellis above.

This is a bulletin board in the hotel lobby of pictures of the gradens when they are blooming in the Spring/Summer. Can't wait to go back and see that.
FOUR accordians. I found out each one only plays in one key...so there is alot of changing out accordians. I never knew that.
If this music doesn't make you smile and tap your toes...nuthin' will!! The evening was very much worth the drive and we love the town of Blanco!
Very good musicians who have been playing together for a long, long time!

THIS is the reason we went to Blanco. At the Redbud Cafe to hear the band ZYDECO BLANCO. They live there and don't play much anymore. We hadn't seen them in 8 years and Jamey had never seen them. It was the best time EVER!! Good food too. See those boards up on the wall? It's the rainfall charts for Blanco from the early 1900's until 1999...haha...only in Tejas.

Next day we picked up Toby in San Marcos and took him out for a birthday lunch. Jamey feeds a calf at Toby's friend's house. It's name is "Moo-Moo".

These folks also had this darling deer that they rescued after it's Mama got hit by a car. In this picture she is a few months old but they got it when it was about a week old and very, very tiny. Her name is "Baa-Baa". Missed getting a picture of the LARGE dead rattlesnake in the bed of his friend's truck...I was too busy checking out it's scariness to think of taking a photo...grr.

Toby, Gene & Jamey at Palmer's-San Marcos, TX.

Dear Mary, Thanks for the latest blog. I dig the "1933", the accordians, of course, pics of Jamey and Toby, plus the pecan pie. That makes me hungry right now.

Love,
Dave
