WHITEHEAD MUSEUM-DEL RIO, TX

This guy was 100 yrs. old when this picture was taken. He did the last wagon train of wool/mohair in Del Rio. Isn't he great looking? I gotta do research on him.
This was made from over 200 rattlesnake rattles.
Hmmm-what does this mean?
The Cadena Nativity-1,287 pieces-the life work of one woman. This picture just shows part of the collection. It is 32' long and 20' deep.
We have to make one these thingies in our backyard. Bruce and I had so much fun w/ it. Lots of stuff hung a wood frame and then you whack them w/ a stick to see what kind of sounds you can make.
Judge Roy Bean was brought to Del Rio from Langtry for burial when he died in 1903. His body was later exhumed and reburied at the museum for "safe keeping". His son Sam (who died in 1907 of knife wounds) is buried next to him.
Built in 1871 The Perry Store was the largest mercantile between San Antonio, El Paso and Eagle Pass.
The museum is very good. It is a complex shaped like a square w/ many little buildings all around it. We saw displays of: doctor's office, blacksmith shop, historical border radio, black Seminole scouts, replica of the Jersey Lilly Saloon, jail, farm equipment, chapel (where they have alot of weddings), caboose, livery stable, barn, winery stuff, military stuff and outside animals(bird aviary, prairie dogs, turtles and resident cats.) If you come to Del Rio you will like this place alot!!
