DEL RIO-ODDS -N-ENDS.

Somebody save this church across from the courthouse!
HURRY!! Save it!!
Del Rio Courthouse.
Old Del Rio Jail that now houses some city offices.
Amtrak Station.
Other tiny news and observations: We have toads, of which Pecos has none. I've missed toads.
The cicadas, of which Pecos has none are LOUD. I do not like cicadas.
Gene's commute to work is 1.56 miles as opposed to the old Pecos to Pyote commute of 27 miles.
This is the first job Gene ever had where he isn't required to clean his classroom.
You know Julio's tortilla chips that are so yummy? They originated here in Del Rio and they have a restaurant too. They should stick to chips and spices...the food was NOT good.
Then we tried this place called Manuel's Steakhouse that is sorta new. They have one in Acuna across the border but people aren't going there any more so they opened one here. It was wonderful: flavorful steaks, great prices, good service, pretty decor.
Laughlin Air Force Base here in town is the busiest pilot training center in the U.S.A.
In 2009 the population here was 50,135.
The Firestation Studios is downtown and housed in the city's old fire station/city hall. The art they show changes monthly. They also offer art classes and dancing lessons. We are going there & to a few other art places this Friday night for the monthly "art walk"....so
STAY TUNED!!
